The Gentle Leader lead converts into a regular collar for added flexibility.
This lead was designed by a Senior Veterinary Surgeon and Past President of the National Dog Trainers Association in the USA. The lead allows owners to prevent dogs or puppies from dragging their owners and makes training for basic commands such as sit, stay still, and come very quick and easy because of its effect on the way dogs think, relax, and act.

Why choose Gentle Leader?:

• Most dogs of all sizes do not respond to a normal collar and corset and resist pressure by pulling their owners in the other direction. This lead is unique, and it works on three points:
• Pressure is transmitted to the back of the neck, and this naturally stimulates relaxation (similar feeling to that of a puppy when the mother holds it by the neck)
• Gentle pressure around the nose and jaw, does not prevent the dog from opening his mouth
• works like a halter on a horse; Where the nose goes the body will follow

How to put it on the dog:

1. Attach your dog's lead to the control ring

2. Release the loop on the tie and secure it at each end

3. Place the neck harness around your dog's neck so that it touches the base of the dog's skull in the back and aligns over the Adam's apple in the front.

4. You should be able to press one finger under the neck strap. This will feel and fit more snugly than a regular collar, but your dog will still be comfortable

5. Release the loop and remove the collar from the dog.

6. Open the adjustable sliding clamp and slide it down toward the control ring where the handlebar is attached.

7. Pull the nose loop up through the central double D-ring, which is located in the central part of the "T" shape.

8. Holding the neckband in your hands, slide the nose loop you just created over the dog's nose. Then connect both ends of the leash around the dog's neck.

9. Slide the adjustable slider clip up so that it is just below the dog's jaw.

10. The nose ring should now be in front of your dog's eyes but behind the corners of his mouth, and loose enough to pull forward to the beginning of the fleshy part of his nose.

11. Make a final adjustment to the nose ring and close the adjustable sliding clasp.

12. Once fitted in this way, it will not be necessary to re-open the adjustable sliding clasp, unless the dog is still growing.
